Go Jazz!

Last night we went to "Fan Appreciation Night" at the Energy Solutions Arena. The Jazz made some of the players available for autographs and Boston was really excited to go. He was especially excited to meet his favorite player D-Will, Deron Williams. Boston was fun to watch interact with the players. When it was his turn, he would walk up to them, say their name and then ask them for their autograph, "D-Will, can I have your autograph?" All of the players and coaches were great and responded wonderfully to him. There were A LOT of people that went and most of the lines were really long. The three of us went with Boston's Aunt Katie and it took all four of us to meet as many players as possible. Three of us would stand in a line while one of us would go get a place in another line. We had a great time. The players were only there until 7:30 and then took off, but Andrei Kirilenko was especially great and stayed after to make sure he got everyone that was in line. We got to him at about 8:00 and there were still a bunch of people behind us. He was really nice to Boston too and gave him a bunch of high fives. The players and coaches we met were: Deron Williams, CJ Miles, Paul Millsap, Andrei Kirilenko, Coach Jerry Sloan, Coach Phil Johnson, Ronnie Brewer, Matt Harpring and Ronnie Price.

Signs of Spring

It was such a nice day today and even though there was still a little bit of snow in the back of the yard, Boston was excited to get out and take his first swings of the season. For the last couple of weeks, ever since he started seeing a little bit of the grass, he has been asking me to go out and play baseball with him. He has been telling me that spring starts whenever the snow is all gone and since all the snow in the front yard was gone, that counts as spring time... I didn't argue. He would hit six balls off his tee and after the sixth ball he would run around the bases. After running the bases he would get a stick and write his "score" (how many out of the six he hit to the fence) in the snow, calling it his "scoreboard". After an hour and a half of shagging his hits, I talked him into taking a break until tomorrow. He told me we could break until tomorrow if he could ride his bike. He thinks everything is negotiable. I caved and got his bike down for him. He shed his training wheels at the end of last year and it took a little bit for him to get used to it again. He kept turning into the grass and was having trouble riding in a straight line. I asked him if he wanted to go in and try some more tomorrow and he said, "I'm never giving up, Dad. Never give up." Something else I couldn't argue with. Not long after that, he got it, he was riding up and down the street all by himself. He was also going from the street to the sidewalk through the big dipped gutters. After another hour of bike riding, the sun started going down and we decided to go in. While walking up the driveway, he said, "I didn't let you down Dad, I never gave up." Even writing this now, it chokes me up. He's a special kid and I love him more than anything.

Almost There

With a few minutes here and there put into our blog design, I think we are just about ready to start posting some real stuff. Time is always an issue when putting something you know nothing about together. I didn't like a lot of the design options that were given so I had to learn a little bit of HTML on the fly to get it closer to what I wanted. I'm sure there will be some more tinkering involved, but I think it's far enough along that we can start posting. So, "hopefully" that will happen.

Grab a plunger, I blogged the toilet.

We have never done the blog thing, but since it is 2008 we better catch up with the times. So as we have time, we'll try to start posting. Here are a couple photos from our Trip to Boston in Fall 2007, until we can get some more stuff up.
